"She Wept a River" by Fiona Haasz, Dry pastel on paper
Between the years 2011 and 2016 I had 4 miscarriages.
The first two resulted in excessive, uncontrollable bleeding and emergency curettes, one of which involved a blood transfusion.
During these first two pregnancy losses I felt immeasurable grief and rage. Whilst experiencing this, I found that the blank walls of the Emergency room of the hospital exacerbated my loneliness.
It occurred to me that a project which found ways to inspire hope through the simple placement of an image on a wall, could make a huge difference to the healing of people such as myself in situations like I experienced.
So, whilst the idea hasn't yet made it in to a hospital emergency ward yet, the Art 4 Walls concept was born.
The first Art 4 Walls project, is Art 4 Refugees.
